Walsh Parent Coaching

About

I help parents transform daily battles into deeper bonds - raising emotionally healthy, thriving kids without yelling, bribing, or second-guessing themselves.

I always wanted to be a mom. It was always my greatest wish and I just KNEW it would be the most WONDERFUL, FULFILLING, and JOYFUL time of my life... Right?.. But sometimes...it wasn't.

I'm Melissa Walsh, Parent Coach and mother of three, and I want to walk with you through the times when parenting is stressful, overwhelming, and you just can't find the family balance you long for.

With 30 years of experience in education, early childhood development, and my own personal 20+ years as a parent, I am passionate about creating environments that will send thriving, successful humans out into the world and create loving family environments in the process.

My Story: From Overwhelmed Mom to Confident, Connected Parent

When people asked me as a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said, “a really good mom.”
Looking back, I realize that dream was born from my own childhood — from the parts of me that longed to feel safe, seen, and loved. My heart’s mission became clear early on: I wanted to give children what I never had. So I became a teacher, and eventually a proud mom of three.

But here’s the truth I didn’t expect: even with a degree in child development, even after reading every parenting book I could find, even after doing everything better than my parents had, I didn’t feel like I was doing it right. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and constantly second-guessing myself. Technology created a disconnect and constant battle in my home. I loved my kids more than anything, yet parenting didn’t feel joyful — it felt like walking a tightrope of guilt, confusion, and fear that I wasn’t enough.

Sound familiar?

I joined parenting groups, looking for that elusive “manual.” What I found were countless other loving parents feeling the same — trying to do better than our parents did, but feeling lost in the flood of advice, power struggles, and daily battles over boundaries, balance, and screens. We were all doing our best, yet constantly wondering if our best was good enough.

Over time, through raising my three kids (now incredible young adults), I discovered something life-changing:
there is no one right way to parent — but there is a way to parent with confidence, clarity, and peace.

I learned to trust my instincts, to lean on what I knew about child development, and to focus on connection rather than perfection. I found strength in seeking support and perspective — and that changed everything. The chaos calmed, the guilt softened, and joy began to return to our family life.

And that’s what I want for you.

There is a method to calm the chaos, strengthen your confidence, and bring joy back to parenting. That’s exactly why I created The Connected Parent Pathway — a 10-week private coaching program designed to help you create calm, connection, and confidence in your family.

Together, we’ll:

Identify what’s not working — the frustrations, the worries, the power struggles.

Highlight the strengths already present in your family (yes, they’re there!).

Create a clear vision for the kind of home and relationships you truly want.

Co-design practical, personalized steps that bring that vision to life.

With support, insight, and a proven framework, you’ll begin to see your family dynamic shift — and you’ll finally feel the peace and confidence you’ve been searching for.

Parenting isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection, growth, and joy — and you don’t have to walk this path alone.

Melissa helped me approach conflict resolution in a way that felt respectful, balanced, and effective. She modeled and encouraged genuine empathy, helping me better understand my children’s perspectives while also honoring my role as a parent. What stood out most was her ability to offer thoughtful ideas and approaches that felt both practical and deeply meaningful. Her calm presence, insights, and encouragement made a meaningful difference in our family dynamics. I am incredibly grateful for the support and guidance Melissa has provided to me. As a parent navigating typical, and sometimes overwhelming, challenges of raising teens, I truly can’t imagine a more compassionate and insightful coach by my side. With three children at different stages of adolescence, there are moments of conflict and uncertainty where I needed clarity, empathy, and direction - which I have found in Melissa, as a parent coach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Parent Coach?
A Parent Coach is a thinking partner with training and expertise who can help you with your parenting questions by understanding your specific family dynamic, uncovering the struggles and strengths in your system, and co-create with you actionable steps you can take that will end the chaos and bring the peace you desire.
How does Parent Coaching work?
Coaching sessions are 1:1 virtual meetings between a coach and parent(s) which provide a confidential, judgment-free place for honest discussion about the parenting issues that are preventing peace and connection in the home. Each session is about 45-60 minutes long and is anchored in finding the core of a family's values and strengths, then using that core to formulate steps toward finding workable and sustainable solutions. Typically, a coaching series lasts 8-10 sessions after which parents enjoy renewed confidence in their parenting and stand firm in the expectations they have for their children.
How and when are sessions scheduled?
Parenting and family life, work schedules, and other obligations don't leave much spare time, so I try to provide lots of flexibility and options for scheduling time. Sessions can be scheduled on my calendar on the Walsh Parent Coaching website, and appointments are available during daytime hours as well as evening hours Monday through Friday. Saturday appointments may be scheduled by request.
