About

Five principles – faith, integrity, excellence, growth, and empowerment – guide every area of my life. These principles were foundational to my 35 years of work within the utilities industry, where I began my career as an entry-level utility worker and retired as a vice president. I am now excited to come alongside leaders and emerging leaders, who represent a variety of businesses and institutions, as I strive to help them discover their full individual potential, determine their best path forward, and develop their personal leadership qualities.

I offer coaching, mentoring, counseling, training, and speaking services to individuals, teams, small businesses, corporations, and community organizations. My educational achievements consist of a Master of Science in Family Science, a Master of Business Administration in Engineering and Technology Management, and an Executive Scholar Certificate from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. I have also completed training in the Faith Based Counselor Training Institute’s restorative therapy program. And I am a member of the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team.

Do you have a commitment to lifelong learning and leading? Do you want to grow as an individual? Do you want to see your teams and colleagues flourish? I am honored to partner with you as you clarify your course, organize your objectives, and strengthen your standing as a leader.

Testimonials

Looking back on the path that has led me to the position that I am in as a leader and the things that helped me to build the skills needed for survival as a leader, I was fortunate enough to have a mentor (Tim Osborn) for several years who had many of the leadership traits that I felt were important to be a successful leader. Practicing these leadership traits was not always natural to me, so I began imitating them until they became second nature. Thank you for taking the time to help me along the way. I can honestly say I could not have achieved half as much as I have without your support. There are still times when I ask myself, "What would Tim do?"

- Stan Darveau, Operations Superintendent

From my experience with you, one of your greatest strengths is your ability to recognize potential - and then have the courage to act on it. You truly embody what it means to be a servant leader. What initially drew me to you was that you were the only person in a position of authority who truly listened to my professional goals - and encouraged them. I had asked the same questions of others, but you were the first to tell me that my goals were achievable and that I should pursue them. You capped off our conversations with a phrase that still motivates me today: "I see potential in you." It may have seemed like a small thing to say, but to me, it shifted my mindset entirely. For the first time in my career, I wasn't working to beat expectations to prove people wrong - I was working to meet them, to prove you were right.

- Cody Palmer, Project Manager

Tim's leadership style is democratic in nature. This style promotes inclusivity and engagement. Tim is able to set clear expectations, and he keeps them attainable to create wins for his people as they achieve those goals. Tim is transparent, honest, and consistent which builds trust. Tim is an effective communicator both written and verbal. Tim relates to people in a way that is engaging. He has the ability to understand his team members' perspectives. Tim takes care of his people to the best of his ability. And he loves Jesus and his family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's in it for me if I have a coach?
Coaching provides a means of exploration. A coach can help you systematically explore your leadership style, beliefs, and principles. A coach can help you effectively identify your leadership behaviors, approaches, and strategies. By doing so, you are enabled to intentionally adjust and chart your own growth and your direct impact upon those you lead. In short, coaching improves you so you can help improve others.
How do I know I am ready for coaching?
Are you ready to engage in a process and put forward the effort to discuss and examine your habits, thoughts, and performance? If the answer is yes, you are ready to undertake self-improvement through coaching.
Do I need to be in a certain industry or have reached a certain position for you to coach me?
Coaching is value added across industries and positions. Leadership challenges are similar no matter your employment. Leadership skills can be developed at any point in your career and life. Coaching is beneficial to individuals who are emerging leaders and individuals who are already leading.
Do you work with just individuals, or do you also work with groups?
I work with both individuals and teams. If you are an individual seeking coaching, I concentrate our efforts on areas you deem most important to your development. When working with a group, I focus on providing one-on-one support for both leaders and members. Additionally, I coach the group as a whole in order to facilitate improved standards and dynamics, fostering individual growth and encouraging group communication.
How long does this take?
Generally, we will work together in one-hour sessions. Those sessions can be scheduled to fit your busy schedule. As to the number of sessions, those can be individualized to fit your growth goals. Consecutive sessions are valuable in that they allow you to gain new insights, reflect upon desired outcomes, and execute your determined strategies for real-world application. We can work on one aspect of growth at a time and then move forward to another as you find to be beneficial.
What materials and tools do you utilize while coaching?
Leaders are readers. I am a staunch advocate for lifelong learning. Learning, whether done through reading, listening, writing, or doing, is a valuable pathway to discovering your strengths, addressing your weaknesses, constructing actionable goals, and executing your self-improvement plan. The materials I use include assessments, reports, courses, and sessions tailored to your chosen growth areas.
Will I be required to purchase more materials?
No, I provide the necessary resources. I can direct you to further information and resources for purchase if you desire.
Do you offer a pay-as-you-go plan?
Yes. If you need support with scheduling, invoicing, or anything related to your coaching experience, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. I’m here to help ensure everything is smooth and straightforward.
How far apart should I book my sessions?
Aim to book two to three sessions per month. Continuity is important and coaching is a commitment, but I understand life gets busy. I will work with you and your schedule to the best of my ability. Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you have scheduling questions.
How do I know coaching is working for me?
The areas that individuals address in coaching are as diverse as those being coached. Therefore, the results of the coaching process are also broad in scope. The true measure of coaching effectiveness is whether you have progressed and grown in the areas you desired to improve. Coaching is a very practical undertaking. It is results oriented. You should see practical results.
