Looking back on the path that has led me to the position that I am in as a leader and the things that helped me to build the skills needed for survival as a leader, I was fortunate enough to have a mentor (Tim Osborn) for several years who had many of the leadership traits that I felt were important to be a successful leader. Practicing these leadership traits was not always natural to me, so I began imitating them until they became second nature. Thank you for taking the time to help me along the way. I can honestly say I could not have achieved half as much as I have without your support. There are still times when I ask myself, "What would Tim do?"

From my experience with you, one of your greatest strengths is your ability to recognize potential - and then have the courage to act on it. You truly embody what it means to be a servant leader. What initially drew me to you was that you were the only person in a position of authority who truly listened to my professional goals - and encouraged them. I had asked the same questions of others, but you were the first to tell me that my goals were achievable and that I should pursue them. You capped off our conversations with a phrase that still motivates me today: "I see potential in you." It may have seemed like a small thing to say, but to me, it shifted my mindset entirely. For the first time in my career, I wasn't working to beat expectations to prove people wrong - I was working to meet them, to prove you were right.
