What is coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” I will work with you to figure out the next right step for your situation.
Is coaching the same as counseling?
Coaching is not the same as counseling. Counseling and therapy help you look to the past and process issues. Coaching focuses on the present and future. A coach doesn't diagnose, prescribe, or treat mental health issues. A coach will work with you to make a plan so you can find the solution to the challenges you deal with.
If I'm in therapy do I still need a coach?
Maybe! A coach will help you look at different issues than a therapist will. Many people find it helpful to have a therapist AND a coach at the same time.
How long should a coaching relationship last?
We will discuss your goals and you will let me know what your milemarkers are. You will tell me what you are trying to accomplish and what success will look like for you. We will work together until you get there. After you accomplish that goal, we will meet as needed to tackle new goals or for maintenance.
