Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will we meet for our coaching sessions?
We will meet on Zoom unless you prefer a different videoconferencing platform or would rather have a phone call. I want the experience to feel comfortable and accessible for you.
Q: How confidential are our coaching conversations?
Your privacy is very important to me. Everything we discuss in coaching stays between us unless you give me explicit permission to share something. As an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach, I adhere to the ICF’s Code of Ethics, which includes strict standards for confidentiality.
Q: How should I prepare for my first session?
Think about what you want to get out of coaching and any specific challenges or goals on your mind. You do not need to have all the answers. Just bring an open mind, your curiosity, and a willingness to explore new possibilities. Before we begin, I will send you a Coaching Information Form to help you reflect on your life and career and begin setting meaningful goals.
Q: Will I have assignments between sessions?
You may! Sometimes I will suggest “homework” or reflective exercises to deepen your learning between sessions. Whether or not you complete them is entirely up to you, but I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to maximize your coaching experience.
Q: What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. If less than 24 hours is given, the session is forfeited unless there are extenuating circumstances, in which case please communicate with me as soon as possible.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
There are no refunds unless there are extenuating circumstances. If something unexpected arises, please reach out to me so we can discuss your situation.
Q: What if I realize coaching with you is not the right fit?
No problem, it happens. I believe in open communication, so let’s talk about what you need and how we can adjust to make sure you are getting the most out of your investment in yourself.
Q: How is your coaching approach different?
I bring over 25 years of leadership and professional development experience across multiple industries, combining proven strategies with a personalized, supportive approach. My goal is to help you gain clarity, strengthen your confidence, and take purposeful action — and to be your thought partner every step of the way.
Q: What is the difference between coaching and consulting?
In coaching, I partner with you to help you clarify your goals, explore options, and create strategies so you can make confident decisions and take action. The answers come from you, and I provide the structure, tools, and accountability to help you get there. In consulting, I take a more directive role — analyzing situations, offering expert recommendations, and sometimes creating solutions for you. Depending on your needs, our work together may blend both approaches, but I will always be clear about which role I am taking in the moment.
Q: How is coaching different from counseling or therapy?
Coaching focuses on where you are now and where you want to go. It is future-oriented and designed to help you achieve specific goals in your career and life. Counseling or therapy often addresses mental health concerns, emotional healing, or past experiences that may be impacting the present. Coaching is not a substitute for mental health care, and I will refer you to a licensed professional if I believe that would best support your well-being.
