Sara Spitzer, Seafarer ADHD Coaching
An ADHD coach with ADHD, here to help you learn to navigate your brain and chart your course to a life that works for you.
About
Seafarer ADHD Coaching combines the transformative power of life coaching with a deep practical and scientific understanding of ADHD. Our current society is not built for people with ADHD and, while information about ADHD is becoming more mainstream, the reality is a lot of people with ADHD are living life on hard mode, unsure of where to turn for help. ADHD coaching can be an effective stand-alone strategy or complement to ADHD treatment that arms clients with knowledge and skills to help improve their functioning, self-esteem, and confidence. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD in her late 20s, I understand how difficult navigating a different brain can be. I've spent years building my knowledge of ADHD and now I am helping others gain control of their lives, live authentically, and feel comfortable navigating their brain.
People with ADHD (or ADHD-like symptoms) may struggle with organization, time management, planning, motivation, impulsivity, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills. I work with my clients to identify their unique combination of challenges and co-create personalized, strengths-based strategies to manage them. I also provide education about ADHD so my clients are well-informed about their neurodivergence and how it may be impacting them. The ultimate goal is for my clients to understand their brains, have a toolkit of strategies that work for them, know how to make adjustments to their strategies as needed, and know the various ways their ADHD can affect them so they can confidently go out into the world and successfully navigate their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to work with you?
Not at all! Anyone who experiences executive functioning difficulties could benefit from ADHD coaching. You do not need to suspect you have ADHD or that you are neurodivergent. Everyone is welcome!
What is executive function?
Executive function refers to the cognitive skills and processes that help us organize thoughts and activities, prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and make decisions. Someone who struggles with executive function may find themselves misplacing things often, having trouble prioritizing, starting, and following through on tasks, and feeling overwhelmed by large projects and to-do lists.
Can you provide an ADHD diagnosis?
No I cannot. If you're seeking a diagnosis, I suggest reaching out to your GP, a psychiatrist, or other qualified medical professional.
Do you provide virtual sessions?
Yes! In fact, all of my sessions are virtual. You will receive a unique meeting link on your client portal for every scheduled session with me. Keep in mind that I am on Pacific Time, USA. The scheduling system can be adjusted to your time zone.
How long before I see results?
While we will begin working towards your goals immediately, coaching is not an instantaneous solution. It takes time and commitment from coach and client. Typically it can take at least 4 sessions to start to see progress. I recommend coaching for 3-6 months to see significant progress in a variety of areas.
How do you stay up-to-date on the latest ADHD research, resources, and tools?
It is of the utmost importance to me that I know as much as possible about ADHD and continue to actively build on that knowledge. I do this by reading scientific literature, reading reputable books, listening to podcasts by leaders in the field, taking courses by ADHD experts, attending multiple ADHD conferences per year, and more.
Has ADHD coaching been shown to help people? What is ADHD coaching and how can I learn more about it?
Yes, ADHD coaching has been shown to help people! Multiple research studies have found consistent positive results. Here's a direct quote from an article on CHADD's website.
Subjects "who received individual coaching were found to develop better executive functioning skills and self-determination skills. Those receiving coaching engage in more positive thoughts and behaviors, such as taking greater responsibility for their actions, using goal-attainment skills, modulating emotions, managing stress effectively and increasing positive expectations for performance."

Do you take insurance?
No I do not. Unfortunately, ADHD coaching is not covered by insurance. If you have concerns, talk to me about sliding scale options!
Do you have a coaching certification?
I am currently pursuing multiple coaching certifications. I have taken foundational coaching courses from a well-respected, accredited coaching program (MentorCoach) and I am currently enrolled in advanced coaching courses. Once complete, I will be a certified professional coach through MentorCoach, the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the Professional Association of ADHD Coaches (PAAC).
