Your "invested and trusted" partner on the journey to your summit

About

As a managing partner of Pinnacle Coaching Services, I believe coaching should be accessible and affordable especially for those who serve within public service.  At Pinnacle, we view ourselves as "invested and trusted" partners with our clients throughout their professional endeavors.  Whether you're a student or a recent graduate seeking a career in government service or the security profession, a seasoned professional interested in advancement, or simply wanting to embark on the next chapter of your journey, Pinnacle wants to be on the trek with you.

As an accomplished
Federal Government Executive, I possess over 25 years of public administration and strategic leadership experience where I served as a Special Agent and diplomat for U.S. Missions to China, Vietnam, and Iraq.  During these tours, I managed various portfolios ranging from security, investigations, and public affairs outreach.  Given my expertise in curriculum and instruction, I've developed and implemented various professional development programs for Federal agencies, which have focused on specialized training, mentoring, and coaching components.

Since 2005, I've taught Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Security Management, Law, and General Education courses at universities across the United States where I have mentored countless undergraduate and graduate students who have obtained careers within the public service profession.  I've also published articles and provided presentations on
professional development, strategic leadership, and executive coaching program implementation at national conferences throughout the past several years.

As an interagency coach for Federal employees, I've obtained the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), which is deemed the “Gold Standard of Professional Coaching.”  I'm also a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC) through the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARWCC).  I've received graduate degrees in Law, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Curriculum and Instruction, and Strategic Studies (Senior Service College Graduate; U.S. Army War College) as well as a Certificate in Strategic Management from Georgetown University.

In support of complimenting our professional coaching practice, I'm an
EQ-i 2.0® and EQ 360® Certified Assessment Provider.  The EQ-i 2.0® is a scientifically validated assessment tool that measures emotional intelligence (EI) — the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions in yourself and others.  Used globally by organizations, consultants, and coaches, EQ-i 2.0® delivers critical insights that improve leadership, team effectiveness, and overall performance.  I am also a Certified Assessment Provider for the Leadership Circle Profile® (LCP).  The LCP is the only instrument that measures the two primary leadership domains, i.e. Creative Competencies and Reactive Tendencies, and integrates this information so that key opportunities for development immediately rise to the surface to further self-awareness and reflection towards the targeted development of leadership skill sets.

The Leadership Circle Profile® (LCP) Assessment, Report, and Debrief Package

The Leadership Circle Profile® (LCP) is a true breakthrough among 360-degree profiles where it is known as the gold standard for leadership transformation instruments. It is the first to connect a well-researched battery of competencies with the underlying and motivating habits of thought. It reveals the relationship between patterns of action and internal assumptions that drive behavior. Ultimately, the LCP navigates to the source of behavior to manifest greater leverage on constructive change. Furthermore, unlike most profiles that take hours to interpret, the LCP integrates all this information in a way that brings the key issues to the surface instantly. The data in the LCP reveals itself in seconds based upon its dynamic presentation. At a glance, a holistic analysis is depicted and accessible thereby putting leaders in touch with what is working, what is not, and why. In most organizations, this treasure trove of information remains buried whereas the LCP makes it easily accessible while it creates a foundation on which ground breaking change can occur at a higher level and sustainable pace especially when it is paired with professional coaching.

The LCP is the only instrument that measures the two primary leadership domains — Creative Competencies and Reactive Tendencies. It measures underlying beliefs and assumptions—the habits of thought that run much of our behavior. As leaders gain these insights, they have much higher leverage to make transformative change.

This package includes the LCP self-assessment, assessments for your selected raters, the LCP Report, and a 90-minute debrief to discuss and explore the results of the assessment with a certified assessor.  The LCP's self-assessment consists of 124 questions, which takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.  Raters will also take a survey of 124 questions and will also provide open-ended feedback based upon three questions that are provided.

The Institute for Psychological Research and Application (IPRA) has confirmed through rigorous statistical and methodological analyses that “The Leadership Circle Profile is an internally consistent, valid measure for leadership development. The psychometric properties of Leadership Circle Profile are strong.

Testimonials

"I began working with Robert as a professional coach because we were in the same career field where he has had such great success. Working with him as my coach, he has helped me to dig deeper into what I am really looking for in my career and my life goals. Robert helped me to develop the confidence in finding answers for myself. He is not afraid to ask hard hitting questions that helped me to determine that just because it is the direction I have been going, doesn’t mean it can’t change to better suit what I really want out of my career and life.

Working with him, I have developed as a leader in my federal career, started a personal business, and found happiness in my current path. He always demonstrates the upmost professionalism, but has also become a very trusted friend. Working with Robert as a coach has been one of the best decisions in my career."

- Michelle B.

"I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Baggett while taking his criminal justice class at the University of North Florida in 2006-2007. Even after graduating, I continued to seek his guidance on various matters, including resume development. Robert consistently provided valuable advice, offering honest and insightful feedback that proved invaluable.

As I got to know Robert better, my trust in his counsel grew. His expertise in the criminal justice field is unparalleled, and he remains up-to-date on the latest job trends and employer expectations. I highly recommend seeking Robert's advice – his guidance has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth."

- James M.

"The first time I ever met Robert Baggett was at the Spring 2024 Internship and Career Expo at the University of Central Florida. He was in one of the panel of speakers amongst other agencies. In many ways he stood out, as I was easily able to recall his name when I chose my classes for Fall 2024. As a recent graduate, I needed guidance on opening pathways of opportunities for myself. I have found with his assistance the confidence, insightfulness and guidance of fine tuning my resume and my LinkedIn profile. His recent assistance with fine tuning my resume has opened up new employment opportunities for myself and I couldn't be more grateful.

I have found Robert to be a great asset in finding my pathway in the criminal justice field, along with keeping me informed with new opportunities. I continue to seek his advice on any professional matters that come my way, and I highly encourage and recommend him to any future and post graduate students with any questions and advice."

- Ramey B.

"It is with deep gratitude and admiration that I write this testimonial for Robert Baggett. I was fortunate to meet Robert in 2021 as a California State University East Bay student. The content and quality he offered led to me taking four of his Criminal Justice classes, yet his expertise and knowledge did not end there. Robert made himself available to his students even beyond graduation, and I would have no idea what a gift that would be. His breadth of academic achievements and career experiences make him an unparalleled resource.

Robert's educational achievements, including earning multiple advanced degrees—JD, MPA, MSS—and esteemed certifications such as CFE, PCC, and CPP, showcase his dedication to continuous learning and expertise across diverse fields. As a student navigating academia and career decisions, I was fortunate to have Robert extend his wisdom and unwavering support. Even after being my professor, he took the time to listen and learn about my background and interests. Robert not only guided me through choosing the graduate program that aligned with my goals and aspirations but also provided invaluable letters of recommendation for both job and graduate school applications. His insight, encouragement, and tangible support have shaped my academic and professional journey.

As someone dedicated to public service, Robert has taken the time to provide thoughtful and tailored advice, which I have aptly applied. If public service interests you, Robert's resume boasts experiences that showcase his expertise in this area. From a role as a diplomat for the United States Department of State to working for the USDA, Robert's public service commitment and knowledge are rich resources.

Robert’s impact extends far beyond academics. He inspired me and instilled confidence in my ability to seek new roles and pursue knowledge to help me excel. I am grateful for his guidance and for the example he sets as an educator, mentor, and advocate for his students. I wholeheartedly recommend Robert for those seeking direction, inspiration, and advancement in academia, career, and life's next steps."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

What isn’t coaching?
Consulting is the engagement of giving expert advice to people working in a professional or technical field.

Mentoring is when an individual offers advice or trains someone who is new to a particular field or profession, especially a younger colleague.

Counseling is the provision of assistance and guidance in resolving personal, social, or psychological problems and difficulties, especially by a professional.

How will our coaching sessions be structured?
Our first session will consist of introductions. We’ll discuss roles, responsibilities, and expectations during our coaching engagements. We’ll also identify goals and develop a plan of action for you to achieve these goals. Throughout our continuing sessions, we’ll explore any challenges you are facing, identify and examine opportunities, implement practices, and enable accountability as we constantly evaluate progress together. At our final session, we’ll assess our engagement during the coaching process, reflect upon the growth you’ve made, and identify future goals as your journey continues.
Are our coaching sessions confidential?
As a credentialed coach and member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), our coaching sessions will remain confidential in accordance with the ICF Code of Ethics. As your professional coach, I have an ethical duty and responsibility to not disclose any information obtained during the course of our coaching relationship without your expressed permission as the right to confidentiality belongs to you as the client.
Why does the coaching market have significant variations in costs for coaching services?
Coaches have the ability to set their own costs for the services they provide. With this said, it is encouraged that individuals and organizations who are interested in receiving coaching services conduct their due diligence to assess whether one's coaching fees are reasonable for the services rendered in the current market. In order to become more informed as a consumer, I recommend exploring the answers to the following questions below, which I have personally used as a guide when I seek coaching services. Ultimately, coaching is truly an investment in one’s continued professional development where one should assess the fair market value, quality, and cost of the services being offered.

1) Can a coach's claimed professional qualifications and accomplishments be verified?

2) Is the coach a member of the International Coaching Federation or a similar coaching organization?

3) Does the coach possess any credentials or certifications associated with the coaching profession?

4) Can such credentials or certifications be independently verified?

5) Does the coach seek continuing training and education in order to bolster their coaching capabilities?

6) Does the amount of coaching experience a coach has accumulated, coupled with their training, credentials, and certifications, personally justify to you the amount that is being charged for services?

What is an ICF Credential?
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), an ICF Credential is a professional certification indicating that a coach has met specific standards and requirements designed to develop and refine their coaching skills. It is an indication that a coach is dedicated to upholding strong principles of ethical behavior in coaching. An ICF Credential shows a coaches’ clients and peers they are committed to the coaching industry and to developing themselves as a coaching professional.

Holding a credential – especially an ICF Credential – is extremely important to today’s coaching clients. The 2022 Global Consumer Awareness Study found that 85% of coaching clients say it’s important or very important that their coach holds a certification or credential. Earning an ICF Credential provides a coach with instant credibility and increased visibility to prospective clients.
ICF offers three credentials, corresponding with the quantity of education and experience required to earn it. The credentials are:

Associate Certified Coach (ACC) – Completed 60 hours of coach specific education and 100 hours of client coaching experience

Professional Certified Coach (PCC) – Completed 125 hours of coach specific education and 500 hours of client coaching experience

Master Certified Coach (MCC) – Hold or have held a PCC Credential, completed 200 hours of coach specific education and 2,500 hours of client coaching experience

What does it take to earn an ICF Credential?
Earning an ICF Credential is a rigorous process that provides legitimacy and credibility to Credential-holders. Each of the credentials (ACC, PCC and MCC) requires the same five key components:

1. Education: Obtain coach-specific education aligned with the ICF definition of coaching, ICF Core Competencies and ICF Code of Ethics.

2. Experience: Coaching experience hours must begin after a coach has started a coaching education program.

3. Mentor Coaching: Receive mentor coaching to strengthen a coaches’ skills within the ICF Core Competencies.

4. Performance Evaluation: Pass a performance evaluation(s) that assess one’s coaching skills against ICF standards.

5. Exam: Pass a written exam designed to test the coaches’ understanding of and ability to apply the ICF definition of coaching, ICF Core Competencies and ICF Code of Ethics.

Why are ICF-credentialed coaches considered the Gold Standard of Professional Coaching?
Anyone can label themselves a coach. However, ICF-credentialed coaches are professionals who have met stringent education and experience requirements, and have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the coaching competencies that set the standard in the profession. Additionally, they adhere to strict ethical guidelines as part of ICF’s mission to protect and serve coaching consumers.
What does the coaching process entail?
Part of working with me as a coach is that I will ask a lot of you - maybe more than you have ever been asked. Please be willing to experiment with fresh approaches and be open to new ideas. This will help you to reach your goals and live an integrated and fulfilled professional life, using the gifts you have and honoring your professional values more easily.

With that said, please be willing to:
• Trust the Coaching Process
• Experiment with New Ideas
• Be Coached as a Whole Person
• Design the Coaching Plan Together
• Trust Your Gut; Your Instincts; Your Intuition
• Tap into Your Creativity and Resourcefulness
• Commit to Agreed-Upon Number of Sessions
• Set Goals and Commit to Accomplishing Them
• Get the Support You Need to Address Areas of Opportunity
• Set the Agenda for Each Coaching Meeting; It’s All About You
• Be Responsible for YOUR Results. Your Success is directly related to Your Commitment and Efforts Made
How does the coaching partnership work?
Coaching draws out the intelligence and wisdom of the client rather than taking on a role of advising or being an expert consultant. Likewise, therapeutic or counseling approaches are distinct and different from coaching’s methodology. However, coaching can address personal issues (if you want to) or life conditions that have an impact on professional effectiveness.

Our coaching partnership is based on mutual trust and respect. If I say or do anything that is at odds with our agreed-upon way of working, please let me know. If at any time, you want to redefine our agreement, please tell me. I am committed to working with you to produce outcomes you seek, in a manner that works best for you.
Is Pinnacle Coaching Services registered with SAM.gov in order to contract with the Federal government?

The Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC) credential is a highly respected certification that equips career coaches with comprehensive coaching frameworks and methodologies. Recognized for its rigorous standards, the CPCC certification establishes professionals as experts in navigating career transitions, promotions, and professional growth.
