Expat Therapist | Major Life Transitions | Coach & Podcast Host

About

Hi, I’m Meghan Fitzpatrick, an MBACP-registered Therapist and Coach, and Host of the Career Congregation podcast.

I work with individuals navigating significant life transitions, including relocations, career changes, and relationship changes. I work with clients all around the world – borders don’t restrict the work I do. Most of my work is online, with occasional in-person sessions in London and Dublin (check the schedule).

My approach is integrative and relational, combining psychotherapy with practical, solution-focused support to help you move forward with clarity in your career, relationships, and personal life.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work in line with its ethical framework.

Testimonials

"Working with Meghan has been such an amazing experience! As a military spouse navigating the emotional toll of frequent moves, the grief of being far from loved ones, and my choice to step away from my career; I often felt adrift.

From our very first session, Meghan created a space that felt safe, seen, and deeply healing. Despite being in a different time zone, she consistently makes time to meet with me online, offering unwavering presence and care. Her holistic approach has guided me back to myself - helping me reconnect with my values, navigate uncertainty, and move through grief with grace. Meghan has been a steady anchor throughout a difficult chapter in my life and has made me more hopeful about the future.

If you're searching for a therapist who truly honors the whole person (no matter where you are) Meghan is a rare and remarkable guide. Five stars simply don’t do her justice. 🌿"

If you're navigating a big change, whether it’s a career pivot, or feeling stuck in life for she’s the coach you want in your corner! Her ability to help you reconnect with your values, overcome limiting beliefs, and take aligned action is unmatched. I now feel more focused, fulfilled, and excited about the future than ever before.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Therapeutic Coach and why do you call yourself that?
For a long time I kept therapy and coaching firmly separate — two distinct disciplines with different purposes. But over time I found that for many people, the most powerful work happens when you bring the two together. Helping someone explore their past, identify patterns and wounds, and understand where they've come from — and then creating a clear path forward with practical, solution-focused steps — feels far more whole than either approach alone. So that's what I do.

A Therapeutic Coach sits in the space between traditional coaching and therapy. I draw on my background as a qualified therapist and my experience as a coach to integrate both approaches — bringing the emotional depth and relational awareness of therapy together with the forward-focused momentum of coaching. This means our sessions are conversational, collaborative, and focused on moving you forward, while always holding space for the whole person, not just the goals.

It's also worth being transparent about why I use this title. "Psychotherapist" is a protected title, and licensing varies significantly from country to country — and in the US, even from state to state. When working with clients outside of the UK, I practise strictly as a Therapeutic Coach. This ensures I am always working within the appropriate professional and ethical boundaries for your location, and that you know exactly what our work together is — and isn't.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy tends to focus on healing past experiences and supporting mental health and wellbeing. Coaching is forward-focused — it's about where you are now, where you want to be, and how to get there. Both are valuable, and they often complement each other beautifully. As a qualified therapist as well as a coach, if during our work together I feel that therapy would better serve you right now, we'll have that conversation openly and together decide the best next steps. Where possible, I may be able to offer 1:1 therapeutic support directly, though this depends on where you're based. If that's not an option, I'll help you explore what's available to you.
Do you accept insurance?
Not currently, all sessions are private and out of pocket only. This is something I'm actively working on changing, so if insurance coverage is important to you, it's always worth reaching out to check where things stand. I also offer payment plans and some concessionary rates — see below for more on that.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payment via bank transfer or Stripe. Sessions can be paid in GBP, USD, or EUR, whichever works best for you.
How long is a typical session?
All standard sessions are a full 60 minutes, not 50! Because we work online, there's no need for the "therapy hour" convention of cutting sessions short. You book an hour, you get an hour. Some coaching blocks include 90-minute sessions, which will be clearly indicated when you book.
Do you have a supervisor?
Yes, supervision is something I take seriously. As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I engage in regular monthly supervision as required by their ethical framework. Supervision means I work with a qualified professional to reflect on my practice, ensuring I'm always showing up for you in the best way possible. You can read more about BACP's ethical standards here.
What is the BACP?
The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) is the UK's leading professional body for counselling and psychotherapy practitioners. Membership means I'm committed to working within a clear ethical framework that protects you as a client. You can find out more at bacp.co.uk.
What if I can't afford to work with you?
Making sure people can access support when they need it really matters to me. Alongside my paid coaching, I offer a lot of free resources through my Substack and the Career Congregation podcast. For 1:1 work, I offer payment plan options and some concessionary rates where I'm able to. The best thing to do is book a free intro call with me. We can have an honest conversation about what's available and find something that works for you.
Are sessions refundable?
Sessions and packages are non-refundable once booked. I'd encourage you to use our intro call to make sure you feel confident before committing. I want you to feel certain it's the right fit.
How long do I have to use a block of sessions?
Blocks of sessions should be used within the timeframe specified when you book, with a 2-week grace period. For example, a 6-week block can be used over up to 8 weeks. If you have any concerns about timing, please just reach out. I'd always rather have a conversation than see sessions go to waste.
What if I am in crisis or need emergency support?
Please note that I am not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or need immediate assistance, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis support line straight away. Here are some starting points depending on where you are:

  • UK — Samaritans: 116 123 | samaritans.org
