Thinking Room
Your Future Self Is Waiting
About
Thinking Partner - Therapist & Coach
I work with people who can see where they want to be but don't know how to get there, because something keeps getting in the way. That something might be a fear that's quietly shrinking your world. A pattern you can see clearly but can't seem to shift. A behaviour that made sense once and doesn't any more. A life that looks fine from the outside but doesn't quite feel like yours on the inside.
It might show up as anxiety, or procrastination, or the sense of being stuck on a decision you've been circling for months. It might be a fear of flying that stops you going where you want to go, or imposter syndrome that's following you into rooms you've earned the right to be in. It might be something harder to name than that - just a persistent feeling that you're not quite living the life that belongs to you.
Whatever it is, the work is the same. We find what's in the way. And we move it.
I've been doing this for over twenty year, using cognitive hypnotherapy, coaching, NLP, and a way of working that goes underneath the surface problem to the pattern that's driving it. Not managing symptoms. Changing what's underneath them.
If you can see where you want to be, that's a good start but it's not essential.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between cognitive hypnotherapy and traditional hypnotherapy?
Think of it like the difference between a new smartphone and an old landline phone. Traditional hypnotherapy is often about using scripts to induce a trance, which can be effective but not always personalised. Cognitive hypnotherapy, on the other hand, is a much more modern and flexible approach. We use what we know from neuroscience and psychology to create a plan that's just for you. It's about helping you find and use your own inner resources to make lasting changes, rather than just being a passive participant.
Will I be in control during the session?
Absolutely! The idea that you lose control in hypnosis is something you've probably seen in films or on TV, but it's not at all what happens in a therapeutic setting. You'll be fully aware and in control throughout the entire session. You can talk, move, and even choose to open your eyes at any point. The goal is to help you feel more in control, not less.
How many sessions will I need?
This is one of the most common questions, and the honest answer is that it really depends on what you're hoping to achieve. For some people, a few sessions are enough to get to where they want to be, especially for things like phobias or public speaking nerves. For more complex issues like deep-seated anxiety or long-standing habits, it might take a bit longer. We'll always discuss this in our first session and work together to set a realistic goal that you feel comfortable with.
What can cognitive hypnotherapy help with?
It can help with a really wide range of things! People often come to us for issues with anxiety, stress, and low confidence. We also work a lot on phobias (like fear of flying or spiders), sleep problems, and breaking unwanted habits (like smoking or nail-biting). Essentially, if it’s a mental or emotional block stopping you from living your life to the fullest, cognitive hypnotherapy can often help you overcome it.
How do I know if it's the right thing for me?
That’s a brilliant question, and it shows you're thinking seriously about your well-being. The best way to know is to have an initial chat with us. We can talk about what you're struggling with and what you hope to achieve. If it feels like we're a good fit and that cognitive hypnotherapy can help, we can then decide to move forward. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in the process.
