Thinking Aside
A different kind of conversation
About
Most people who find their way here are already good at solving things, for themselves and usually for everyone around them too. That's often exactly why the one thing they can't quite shift starts to feel so frustrating.
Perhaps it's a decision that won't resolve however many times you turn it over. A pattern you can see clearly in yourself but can't seem to change. Something that's been quietly taking up more space than it should, for longer than it should.
I've spent more than twenty years working with people who are trying to make sense of something that's become difficult to shift. My background includes Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy, coaching, leadership and organisational development, and I've worked with individuals, teams and organisations across the public, voluntary and education sectors.
What connects all of that is a simple idea. When people can see a situation differently, they often discover possibilities they couldn't see before.
If you already know where you'd like to get to, that helps, though it isn't essential. Often the clearest way to find out is simply to talk it through.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between cognitive hypnotherapy and traditional hypnotherapy?
Think of it like the difference between a new smartphone and an old landline phone. Traditional hypnotherapy is often about using scripts to induce a trance, which can be effective but not always personalised. Cognitive hypnotherapy, on the other hand, is a much more modern and flexible approach. We use what we know from neuroscience and psychology to create a plan that's just for you. It's about helping you find and use your own inner resources to make lasting changes, rather than just being a passive participant.
Will I be in control during the session?
Absolutely! The idea that you lose control in hypnosis is something you've probably seen in films or on TV, but it's not at all what happens in a therapeutic setting. You'll be fully aware and in control throughout the entire session. You can talk, move, and even choose to open your eyes at any point. The goal is to help you feel more in control, not less.
How many sessions will I need?
This is one of the most common questions, and the honest answer is that it really depends on what you're hoping to achieve. For some people, a few sessions are enough to get to where they want to be, especially for things like phobias or public speaking nerves. For more complex issues like deep-seated anxiety or long-standing habits, it might take a bit longer. We'll always discuss this in our first session and work together to set a realistic goal that you feel comfortable with.
What can cognitive hypnotherapy help with?
It can help with a really wide range of things! People often come to us for issues with anxiety, stress, and low confidence. We also work a lot on phobias (like fear of flying or spiders), sleep problems, and breaking unwanted habits (like smoking or nail-biting). Essentially, if it’s a mental or emotional block stopping you from living your life to the fullest, cognitive hypnotherapy can often help you overcome it.
How do I know if it's the right thing for me?
That’s a brilliant question, and it shows you're thinking seriously about your well-being. The best way to know is to have an initial chat with us. We can talk about what you're struggling with and what you hope to achieve. If it feels like we're a good fit and that cognitive hypnotherapy can help, we can then decide to move forward. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in the process.
