From Lifelong Fear to Complete Calm

“I struggled with fear in cars for most of my 72 years of life. Before a 1,500-mile road trip, I wanted to release the belief that I had to stay hyper-vigilant and worry in order to stay safe.

During our sessions, LNZ created such a calm and relaxing space that I felt confident something deep was shifting rather than just ‘white-knuckling’ through my fear.

I am Lindsay Oberst (LNZ) — an intuitive healer, transformational coach, and lover of self-expression and creativity. I also make fabulous hats and art.

Shiny Happy Life is an invitation to reconnect with the truth of who you are beneath the noise, the conditioning, and the stories that say something is wrong with you.

What led me to this work?
My path to this work grew out of my own healing journey.

In my 20s, I struggled with chronic health challenges, including blood sugar issues, which affected me daily. Through holistic lifestyle changes, mindfulness, movement, and self-care, I was able to restore my health — and these lessons became a foundation for the work I do today.

I also experienced social anxiety, recurring depression, disconnection from myself and others, and a deep sense that something about me needed fixing.

Through practices like yoga, breath, mindfulness, meditation, somatic awareness, and accepting support, I began to discover something surprising: beneath all the striving and self-improvement was a deeper truth — nothing was wrong with me.

This realization changed my life. It sparked a deep curiosity about how humans heal, reconnect, and rediscover their inherent wholeness.

Today, I bring together my training and experience in positive psychology coaching and mindfulness with years of embodied practice to support others in remembering the truth of who they are.
What makes my approach unique?
My approach blends professional training, lived experience, and deep embodied presence.

I combine mindfulness, transformational coaching, somatic exploration, and unique breath and embodiment processes to create a powerful healing experience. 

This work supports reprogramming the subconscious, retraining the brain, and rewiring the nervous system.

I use breath techniques, somatic unwinding, energetic realignment, verbal guidance, and sometimes gentle touch to create the right conditions for you to let go of old fears, self-sabotaging patterns, and limiting beliefs — even the most ingrained ones. 

Unlike approaches that focus only on thinking or behavior, this work is experiential and body-centered, helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom and create a life of ease, deep fulfillment, and joy — just the way you desire and deserve.

How does my process work?
Step 1 – Create Safety

I begin by creating a grounded, safe space using mindfulness, somatic awareness, guided breath and meditation, and compassionate presence

Your nervous system relaxes, and your body feels supported, preparing you to release what’s been holding you back. 

Step 2 – Generate Clarity

Through positive psychology coaching, mindful reflection, and embodiment processes, insights naturally emerge. 

You become aware of patterns, beliefs, and habits without judgment, opening the door to deeper understanding and transformation. 

Step 3 – Move Forward with Freedom

I use positive psychology tools, strengths-based exercises, resilience practices, and mindful embodiment to help you move forward with ease, confidence, and aligned action — fully stepping into the life you want to create.

My work for each person is personalized, combining breath, embodiment, mindfulness, and coaching to meet you exactly where you are and guide you to where you want to be. 
What training or background informs my work?
My approach draws from both professional training and lived experience. 

I spent 15 years as a health and wellness journalist and copywriter, focusing on nutrition and holistic health. About five years ago, I shifted to supporting people directly. 

I hold a master’s degree in positive psychology coaching and am certified through the International Coaching Federation

My training includes mindfulness, acceptance and commitment–based practices, appreciative inquiry, solution-focused coaching, laughter yoga, and happiness training with Marci Shimoff. 

I am currently continuing my training with the SOLignment Institute, studying trauma-informed breath and embodiment practices with internationally renowned healer Julia Mikk, and pursuing certification as an internationally accredited mindfulness meditation teacher

Together, these influences shape a compassionate, body-centered approach that helps people reconnect with themselves in a safe and supportive way. 
What kinds of changes do people experience after working with me?
Everyone’s experience is unique, but many people come to this work feeling stuck in patterns like anxiety, fear, overthinking, or a sense that something in their life isn’t flowing the way they want it to

Through working together, people often experience shifts such as:

  • Moving from hyper-vigilance into a deeper sense of calm and trust

For some people, the change feels subtle at first — a quiet sense of relief or spaciousness inside. 

For others, the shift can feel profound. One client came to a session before a long road trip after living with fear in cars for most of her life. After our work together, she found herself calm and grounded even during a sudden storm on the road. Later she shared that the fear she had carried for decades was simply gone — and she could finally enjoy traveling. 

While every journey is different, many clients say they leave sessions feeling more relaxed, more present, and more connected to the truth of who they are.
What do you mean by “remembering the truth of who you really are”?
Knowledge of the self is the foundation for human flourishing, according to many great teachers. As Carl Jung said, The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are — reminding us that our deepest work isn’t becoming someone new, but uncovering who we’ve always been beneath conditioning.

Remembering the truth of who you really are means reconnecting with the part of you that has always been whole, wise, and enough — beneath the stories, fears, and patterns that life has layered over time. 

Most of us learn to move away from our natural feelings, instincts, and inner guidance in order to adapt, survive, or perform. Over time, this creates a sense of disconnection from ourselves — our bodies, our emotions, and our sense of aliveness. 

This work gently helps you remove the layers of conditioning and return to your natural state of clarity, presence, and joy.

It’s not about fixing anything.

It’s about remembering what has always been true: you are inherently complete, capable, and deserving of a life filled with ease, play, and connection.
Why do so many people feel disconnected from themselves?
Many of us learned, often at a very young age, to move away from our natural feelings, instincts, and inner knowing. 
 
Sometimes this happens because life asked us to be strong, to perform, to adapt, or to push through difficult experiences. Over time, we can become very skilled at living in our minds while losing touch with the wisdom of our bodies and hearts. 
 
This disconnection is incredibly common — and it is not a personal failure. 
 
In many ways, it’s a natural response to living in a fast-paced world that rarely invites us to slow down and listen inwardly. 
 
The beautiful thing is that the connection to yourself is never truly lost. It simply becomes quiet beneath the layers of habit, stress, and old protective patterns. 
 
The work we do together gently helps you rediscover that connection, so you can experience more presence, freedom, and aliveness in your life. 
What if I feel nervous about trying something new?
Feeling a little nervous is completely natural. 
 
Trying something new — especially something that involves slowing down and listening to the body — can feel unfamiliar at first. 
 
In our sessions, we move slowly and with care. You are always in control of your experience, and nothing is forced.
