LearnSmart Academic Coaching Services
Helping learners build the systems, confidence and independence to manage learning well.
About
LearnSmart Academic Coaching helps learners develop the practical systems, judgement and confidence needed to manage learning more independently. We support learners from School Year 7 through university, as well as parents of younger children, through stage-specific programmes matched to their current needs—not a single one-size-fits-all pathway. Academic coaching is different from subject tutoring. Tutoring primarily explains subject content; coaching helps learners plan, organise, begin work, manage deadlines, study strategically, reflect on evidence and adjust their approach across subjects. Current ways to begin include a free Discovery Call, Semester Coaching for university students, Individual Term Coaching for learners in Years/Grades 7–12 or equivalent, and Individual Semester Coaching for university students. Individual coaching can begin at an agreed point in the learner’s school term or academic semester. Group programmes follow their published dates and capacity limits. Our online delivery supports learners in Ghana and internationally. Every application is reviewed for programme fit, scheduling, time-zone access and the appropriate payment route before enrolment is confirmed. Group Term Coaching is not currently open; future cohorts will be announced when registration resumes. The wider LearnSmart programme portfolio includes Parent Support Lab for families of primary-school children, SummerSmart, the 90-Day Academic Reset and transition support for high-school graduates. Some of these programmes are still in development, and availability varies. LearnSmart is led by Helena Frempong, who has supported learners since 2013. Her approach combines structured reflection, practical tools, learner evidence and appropriately bounded parent involvement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is academic coaching, and how is it different from tutoring?
Academic coaching develops the learner’s ability to plan, organise, begin work, manage deadlines, study strategically, follow through and reflect across subjects. Tutoring focuses mainly on explaining or practising subject content. Depending on the learner’s needs, one or both may be appropriate.
Which LearnSmart programmes are currently available?
The free Discovery Call is publicly bookable. Current application routes include group Semester Coaching for university students, Individual Term Coaching for learners in Years/Grades 7–12 or equivalent, and Individual Semester Coaching for university students. Group Term Coaching is not currently open. Parent Support Lab, SummerSmart, the 90-Day Academic Reset and transition support will be announced as each programme becomes available.
Who are the current coaching programmes for?
Individual Term Coaching is for learners in Years/Grades 7–12 or equivalent. Group and Individual Semester Coaching are for university students. Parent Support Lab is designed for parents or guardians of primary-school children when that programme is available. Every application is reviewed for the learner’s stage, current needs, scheduling and programme fit before enrolment is confirmed.
How are LearnSmart coaching programmes delivered?
LearnSmart programmes are delivered live online. Individual Term and Individual Semester Coaching provide four weekly 60-minute one-to-one sessions each month and can begin at an agreed point in the learner’s term or semester. Group Semester Coaching follows its published cohort schedule. The package page and enrolment agreement provide the exact dates, session structure and participation expectations for each programme.
How are parents or guardians involved?
For school-age learners, parents or guardians support enrolment, payment, scheduling and agreed progress communication without taking over the learner’s work. University students normally participate independently; a parent or supporter is involved only where the student agrees or where payment or administration requires it. Parent involvement is appropriately bounded for the learner’s age and programme.
How are places, scheduling and international access managed?
Applications are welcomed from Ghana and other countries. Individual coaching requires a workable weekly appointment time agreed with LearnSmart. Group programmes follow fixed published session times and capacity limits. Families and students must check the stated GMT time against their local time zone. A place is confirmed only after LearnSmart reviews programme fit, scheduling, online access and the appropriate payment route.
How are programme fees and payments handled?
Fees and payment schedules vary by programme and are stated on the relevant application or enrolment page. Please do not pay until LearnSmart has approved the application and issued the correct route. Ghana payments may be made through the approved mobile-money or bank-transfer instructions. International clients receive the approved international payment route. Individual Term and Individual Semester Coaching are enrolled for the agreed term or semester, with payment made monthly in advance.
What happens if a learner misses an individual or group session?
Missed or rescheduled sessions are handled according to the programme-specific agreement. For individual coaching, families or students should notify LearnSmart as early as possible; changes remain subject to availability. Group sessions follow the published schedule and are not repeated for an individual absence. Full details are confirmed before enrolment.
Does every learner follow the same LearnSmart pathway?
No. LearnSmart offers stage-specific programmes for different needs and levels. A family may use one programme or return for another later; learners are not expected to move through every offer in sequence.
How do we choose the right next step?
Start with the programme information and application when registration is open, or book a free Discovery Call if you are unsure. LearnSmart will consider the learner’s stage, needs and readiness and explain the most suitable available option.
