"During my time at Loris High School, Dr. Lashawnte Sarvis served as my assistant principal, who I was personally assigned to due to the alphabetical order of my name. Dr. Sarvis had the unique ability to connect with students on a personal level and identify those who needed extra guidance all while remaining professional and upholding her position of authority. She was the type of person who made you want to do well, and she kept a friendly caring

disposition so that any student felt comfortable coming to her for guidance and advice. Dr. Sarvis is the type of person who you would want in any leadership position, and I would recommend her in any circumstance in which someone was needed who is responsible, professional, and productive."

Dr. Sarvis was an excellent school leader. As a gifted, Black student who often felt overlooked for students with behavior issues or academic needs, Dr. Sarvis made sure I was encouraged and seen, helping me secure her Sorority scholarship my senior year. As one of two black students to attend my senior trip, as a chaperone, she assured my mother that I was in good hands. As a current educator, I take her approach of "seeing" all of my students regardless of their needs or lack of. I attribute that to her.
