Transform Your Beliefs, Transform Your Life
About
My life transformation began in 2010 after I suffered a nervous breakdown. It brought me to the realization that I had unresolved trauma that I needed to heal. The road to healing led me to face the painful experiences of abuse from my childhood, and how the pattern had continued in my life. As a child, I endured physical and verbal abuse from a controlling mother who used Bible scriptures such as “Honor thy mother and father,” “Children obey your parents,” and “Spare the rod, spoil the child” to justify her behavior. The spiritual abuse continued in my late 20’s when I joined a church with an authoritarian pastor who used legalism and fear mongering as a form of control. I began dating a man at the church who was also controlling and verbally abusive, and he too used the Bible to justify his behavior. When I began to realize that the church and relationship were toxic, I severed ties but it left deep mental and emotional wounds. All the unresolved trauma manifested into depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, suicidal ideations, and spiritual crisis. Left unresolved, the symptoms became so severe that I had to be hospitalized. This is when things began to turn around for me. You see, prior to being hospitalized, I knew that I didn’t feel good about myself, but I did not know how to change that.
Through therapy, I learned coping skills and was equipped with tools to help me heal. I also learned that negative self-talk was the root of what was causing me to feel bad about myself. As I began to analyze the negative self-talk, I saw that it stemmed from the abuse and distorted religious teachings to which I had been exposed. I began to deconstruct the religious doctrine and reframe my thoughts and beliefs. At the same time, I was undergoing a profound spiritual awakening. I no longer wanted to go to church so I was exploring ways to maintain my spiritual connection at home. I began to meditate, practice grounding, and spend time in nature. As I began to do this, I gained clarity about my identity and purpose, I was able to tap into my intuition more, and I noticed that whenever I “asked” for something it would manifest rapidly. As I experienced inward transformation, my whole life changed.
Having overcome these mental and emotional challenges inspired me to help others and develop my own powerful framework. I now teach others how to overcome the mental and emotional pain of religious trauma that prevent them from living a fulfilled life through my S.T.E.P.S. to Freedom Method. As a spiritual coach, I believe that true healing encompasses the total self—mind, body, and spirit, and my role is to help you find what makes you feel aligned and rooted in your identity so that you find purpose and fulfillment in life.
I received training as a spiritual coach through Kemetic Centered Living, Integrative Mental Health University, the Life Purpose Institute, and Transformation Academy, and I continue to learn, study, and develop my skills. Prior to becoming a spiritual coach, I worked in several areas of the mental health field including peer support, substance abuse, applied behavior analysis, and employment support. I earned my bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Langston University in 2002 and have taken graduate courses in spiritual counseling and applied behavior analysis.
Today, I am dedicated to helping others conquer their mental and emotional turmoil through my S.T.E.P.S. to Freedom Method. As a spiritual coach, I believe that true healing integrates the mind, body, and spirit. My mission is to help you overcome the aftermath of religious trauma, uncover your true identity, align with your deepest values, and live a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.
