I help adults lose weight, improve blood sugar, reduce cravings, increase energy, and build sustainable habits through personalized health coaching, nutrition guidance, and accountability. Whether you're struggling with weight loss, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, low energy, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to help you create a realistic plan that fits your life and supports lasting change.

Hi, I'm Ryan, and I get it. I've been where you are. For years, I tried every diet and "magic" solution out there. Protein shakes, juice cleanses, you name it—I gave it a shot. At my peak, I weighed over 330 pounds, had a 56-inch (a nearly 5 foot) waistline, and struggled with my health, confidence, and how the world saw me. But that wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part was the constant feeling of going at it alone, without anyone to truly help guide me.

It wasn't until I realized something crucial: there's no one-size-fits-all solution to health. We're all different, and what works for one person may not work for another. That's why I stopped chasing quick fixes and started focusing on sustainable habits and practical changes that I could actually maintain long term.

Through my personal journey, I became passionate about understanding why so many people struggle with weight loss and health despite their best efforts. Over the past 24 years, I have independently studied nutrition, metabolism, behavior change, habit formation, and wellness principles in an effort to better understand the root causes of chronic health challenges.

What I discovered is that lasting change rarely comes from willpower alone. It comes from having a clear plan, realistic goals, consistent support, and accountability along the way. Unfortunately, many people are left to navigate their health journey on their own.

That's why I created Holistic Roots Health Coaching.

What is a health coach, and how can you help me?
A health coach is a supportive guide who helps you make sustainable lifestyle and nutrition changes that fit your unique needs. I’ll help you identify root causes behind your challenges, set realistic goals, and build healthy habits that last. My approach focuses on education, accountability, and empowering you to take control of your health — not strict diets or cookie-cutter plans.
How long should I plan to work with a health coach?
It depends on your goals and where you’re starting from. Some clients work with me for a few months to build healthy habits, while others continue longer for deeper lifestyle changes. My packages are designed to be flexible — you can renew weekly or monthly and progress at your own pace.
Do you provide meal plans?
No — I don’t prescribe specific meal plans. Instead, I help you understand how to make balanced food choices that work for your body and lifestyle. Together, we’ll explore real-food options, mindful eating, and habits that encourage long-term success.
How are coaching sessions held?
All sessions are held virtually through secure video or phone calls, so you can join from anywhere, with the option of in-person sessions at my office. (email me to schedule these) Midweek check-ins can be done by phone or text for flexibility and convenience.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Most of my coaching is done virtually, which allows flexibility for clients anywhere in the U.S. However, in-person sessions may be available locally in Central Wisconsin on a case-by-case basis.
What’s the difference between the Discovery Call and the Foundation Package?
The Discovery Call is a free, no-obligation chat to explore your goals and see if health coaching is the right fit.
The Foundation Package is your first step into active coaching — where we begin personalized sessions, habit tracking, and real accountability.
What’s included in the Foundation Package?
Each week includes a 30-minute coaching session and a 15-minute midweek accountability check-in (by phone or text). The monthly version includes four sessions and four check-ins at a discounted rate. You’ll also receive educational tools, personalized guidance, and ongoing support.
Can I reschedule a session?
Yes, you can reschedule using your Paperbell client portal. However, rescheduling is discouraged — please try to book times you’re confident you can attend. No-shows are not eligible for rescheduling.
What if I’m not ready to commit to a monthly package?
No problem! The weekly Foundation Package lets you experience coaching on a week-to-week basis. Once you’re ready, you can switch to the monthly plan to save on cost and maintain consistent progress.
Do you work with clients who have medical conditions?
I’m not a medical doctor and do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. However, I can support you in making nutrition and lifestyle changes that complement your healthcare provider’s recommendations. If needed, I’m happy to collaborate with your existing healthcare team.
Can I work with you if I’m already seeing a doctor or therapist?
Absolutely. In fact, health coaching works best alongside your existing healthcare team. I focus on education, habit change, and lifestyle support — not diagnosis or treatment. With your permission, I can coordinate with your other providers for continuity of care.
What makes your approach different?
I’ve personally walked the same path many of my clients are on. My coaching isn’t about perfection — it’s about real, sustainable change rooted in holistic principles. I combine lived experience with research-backed strategies that focus on insulin regulation, real food, and mindful habit-building.
Do you only focus on weight loss?
No — while many of my clients come to me for help with weight loss, that’s not my only focus. My approach looks at the whole person — including nutrition, energy, sleep, stress, mindset, and overall lifestyle habits.
Weight loss often becomes a natural byproduct of restoring balance and addressing the root causes behind health struggles. My goal is to help you feel better, move better, and live better — not just see a lower number on the scale.
Do you take insurance?
Health coaching services are not typically covered by insurance. However, many clients use HSA or FSA funds if their provider allows it. Payments can be made easily through Paperbell using debit or credit cards.
