Gabrielle Perrin, Academic Life Coach

Helping struggling students upgrade their study and planning skills

About

Hi, I'm Gabrielle. So glad you're here!

WHETHER YOUR STUDENT NEEDS A GLOW UP OR A MAJOR OVERHAUL...let's get to work!

Together, we'll focus on what's giving them the most grief, and build out a targeted tool box of science-based academic strategies that are CUSTOM-MADE for them.

STUDENT, do any of these sound like you?

  • I procrastinate, then cram all night - I need to reduce my stress!
  • I used to ace tests easily, but these classes are NO JOKE - I need help fast!
  • I’m drowning in schoolwork - I need balance!
  • Reviewing notes and flashcards isn't working -  I need new study strategies!
  • I lose track of assignments and deadlines - I’ve got to get organized!
  • Every teacher has different policies and expectations - I can’t keep track!

It's not all your fault!

Every school year, and especially in the leap to high school or college, there are new expectations, higher levels of sophistication, and more accountability required to succeed. Why not partner with a guide who can help you upgrade and show up ready for these new demands - today and in the future.

PARENTS, I've been there too...

...pulling your hair out, watching them play whack-a-mole with their schoolwork, worrying whether your kid will EVER figure out how to study and organize themselves effectively.

How I work with students

We start by assessing the student's study skills and habits. I’ll share the best adaptable, science-based approaches, and together we’ll build an upgraded, customized academic tool kit. We’ll map out strategies, track progress and collect data so they get to see for themselves which of the tools and systems are most effective for them. Grades? Improving! Stress levels? Declining!

Frequently Asked Questions

How is academic coaching different from tutoring?
Here's the difference: tutors are content wizards - they know their subject backwards and forwards and help you understand it too.

Academic coaches? We're learning strategists! I help you unlock your best ways to study, organize, and manage stress - methods that actually fit who you are.

We also tackle the bigger stuff: creating balance in your life and developing skills that'll serve you forever, like advocating for yourself, building follow-through, and managing your time. Tutoring gets you through Thursday's test; coaching gives you tools for a lifetime.
Do you help with ACT/SAT prep or college applications?
I don't do ACT/SAT test prep myself, but I'm happy to connect you with some fantastic tutors who specialize in it - just reach out!

College applications and essays? Absolutely! This is where coaching really shines. We'll tackle the whole process together through weekly coaching sessions, focused Co-Work time (where we actually get stuff done side-by-side over Zoom), and our Habit Builder to keep momentum going. It's all included in my 8-week or full semester packages.

Instead of drowning in deadlines and essay drafts alone, you'll have a system, accountability, and someone in your corner helping you showcase your best self. Let's make this process feel manageable - and maybe even a little exciting!
How is your approach different from other Academic Coaches or EF specialists?
Here's the thing: I came to academic coaching through a different door. I started as a life coach, working with young adult artists as they honed their craft and discovered their unique voices. That background means I have a special connection with teens who are creators, independent thinkers, people who see the world a little differently. A lot of academic coaches are educators first - which is great! But I'm a coach first. I bring that coaching lens to everything: helping you find your way forward, honoring what makes you unique, and building systems that work with who you are, not against it.

If you've ever felt like you don't fit the "typical student" mold, we're probably going to get along great.
What kind of results can we expect?
The first shift you'll notice is awareness - understanding the actual brain science behind how learning works and making intentional choices about new habits to try. Through weekly coaching sessions, Co-Working time, and our Habit Builder (all part of my 8-week and semester packages), students start connecting the dots. They notice what's working, catch themselves when old patterns creep back in, and build strategies to handle those moments before they become problems.

Here's the real talk though: results depend on your student's buy-in. The energy and determination they bring to this process directly shapes what they get out of it. That's exactly why I don't work with students who are actively resistant to coaching - it just doesn't work if they're not ready.

But when a student genuinely wants to make changes and shows up engaged? That's when the magic happens. They don't just start improving their grades - they transform how they approach challenges, build confidence, and develop skills that'll serve them for life.
You are a “Certified Coach”, what does that mean?
What is an "Anti-Boring Certified Coach"?
I received my Academic Coaching certification through the Anti-Boring Learning Lab, so I wield a thorough battery of research-backed tools and strategies designed to help students build positive habits, reflect on their progress, and adapt as needed to reach their goals. This certification means I use practical, individualized approaches to help students expand their study + organization skills, helping them achieve and master rigid school requirements with methods that feel empowering and true to their strengths. It's about helping students not just get by in school, but gain mastery and skills that make it feel manageable (and Anti-Boring!)

What is an "ICF Certified Coach"?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the gold standard for coaching certification worldwide. My ACC (Associate Certified Coach) credential reflects graduate-level work, 100+ hours of coaching, and a rigorous exam. ICF certification demonstrates mastery of professional coaching competencies—asking powerful questions and partnering with clients to find their own solutions.

These certifications work beautifully together—ICF trains in the "how" of coaching, while Anti-Boring Learning Lab provides the "what" for academic success.
A little more about Gabrielle
I'm Gabrielle Perrin, and I love partnering with students to help them level up their academic and life skills. Through Academic Coaching, teens develop their own solutions, track their progress, and course-correct...learning lessons that will sustain them into adulthood.

After 11+ years working in a high school with dual enrollment students, I went back for some graduate work and certification as an Academic Life Coach. I am a Certified Anti-Boring Learning Lab Coach, and hold my ACC certification from the International Coaching Federation. In addition to coaching and education, I've held Creative/Strategic/Leadership roles in TV Development and youth theatre.

Oh, and I'm quite proud of my young adult as well as my furry children, 2 orange cats who you'll often see on Zoom with me!
