About

Krystal Mazzola Wood, M.Ed., LMFT

Codependency Recovery Coach & Author

My work is dedicated to helping high-responsibility individuals wake up to a true sense of empowerment and grounded security. With 15 years of clinical experience, I provide a level of depth that transcends surface-level advice, focusing instead on systemic rewiring and the restoration of your personal integrity.

The Foundation of My Work

  • Best-Selling Author: My expertise is featured in four traditionally published workbooks, including the best-selling The Codependency Recovery Plan and The Codependency Workbook. My more recent titles, Setting Boundaries and The Toxic Relationship Recovery Workbook, reinforce relationship safety which is central to codependency recovery.

  • Specialized Training: I am formally trained in the Meadows Model by its creator, Pia Mellody. This renowned framework is the gold standard for healing the imbalances in self-esteem and boundaries that drive codependency.

  • Recognized Expert: My systems have been featured in The New York Times, TIME, Today, Reader’s Digest, and Women's Health. Beyond my private practice, I am a trainer for PESI, where I consult with and educate other clinicians on the complexities of codependency and toxic relationship recovery.

A Necessary Distinction

While I bring my full clinical background to every partnership, our work together is Codependency Recovery Coaching, which differs from traditional therapy in key ways:

  • The Focus: This is an intensive, action-oriented partnership focused on education and the active implementation of skills. We move beyond connecting the dots of the past to actually building a secure, interdependent attachment style in the present.

  • The Structure: Unlike therapy, which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders, this coaching partnership is a proactive, goal-oriented intervention.

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy. This is an private educational partnership designed for motivated individuals who do not necessitate a mental health diagnosis but are ready to implement a permanent internal framework for wholeness and relationship safety.

Testimonials

“I have met every single goal I set with Krystal. She is the only professional who has ever helped me take decisive action instead of just talking about my issues—helping me actually recover instead of just maintain. For that, I am forever grateful.”

- Former Private Client

“I have read many psychological writings over 30 years, but this is the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a grounded, factual, and concise explanation of how to rewrite your own subconscious operating system. This guide is unprecedented in its ability to know exactly how you are likely misinterpreting the steps to healing; it is simple, easy to implement, and a proactive road to acquiring life-changing knowledge.”
