Nicole Then, CPEC
Coaching for what comes next.
About
Hi there. I'm Nicole, a mom of two, a wife, a certified coach, and someone standing in a doorway of her own.
I know what it feels like to look at your life and not quite recognize it. To build something real and good, and still lose the thread back to yourself. To navigate a world that doesn't always feel safe, trying to figure out not just where you're going, but where you belong, and who gets to come with you. That's work I know from the inside. It's the work I do with my clients too.
I'm a Certified Professional Empower Coach (CPEC) through Oregon State University's ICF-accredited, neuroscience-informed program. My training grounds coaching in how identity, change, and meaning-making actually work in the brain and body.
I started The Coacherie to make a space where you don't have to perform wellness, follow a generic roadmap, or be treated like a problem to solve. A space that makes room for you to be honest about where you are and curious about where you're going. I work with people who are standing at a threshold: relocating, reckoning, reinventing, or realizing one day that the person they've been performing isn't who they actually are. My clients are ready for this work, even when they don't quite know it yet.
Every transition has a doorway—a point where you've left one room but haven't yet arrived in the next. Most of us try to rush through it, but that in-between is where the real work starts: when you begin examining not just what you're doing, but how you're thinking about it. Getting curious about your own patterns. Getting honest about which parts of your life reflect what you actually value, and which parts you inherited or defaulted into. That's the work that makes sure your next chapter is actually yours, not just the next thing that happens to you.
It's why the symbol for The Coacherie is an arch. An arch doesn't tell you where to go; it marks the passage and holds steady while you walk through it. In this work, that key is knowing yourself. When you know who you are, you can stand steady in the doorway even before you can see the other side.
My approach is grounded, unhurried, and honest. We don't rush to silver linings. We don't reframe before we've actually felt something. We stand in the doorway long enough to hear what's true, then figure out what to do with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is coaching?
Coaching is a partnership. It's not advice-giving, and it's not therapy — it's a structured conversation focused on where you are now and where you want to go. A coach asks the questions that help you find your own clarity, rather than telling you what to do. The work belongs to you; the coach is there to help you see it more clearly. How is coaching different from therapy?
How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy often looks back — working through past experiences, processing pain, and treating mental health conditions. Coaching looks forward. It starts from the assumption that you're not broken and don't need fixing — you're navigating a transition, working toward a goal, or trying to get unstuck, and you want support doing that. Coaching isn't a substitute for therapy, and a good coach will tell you if what you're dealing with is better served by a therapist. What is the ICF?
What is the ICF?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the leading global professional body for coaching. It sets ethical standards and core competencies for the coaching profession and accredits training programs that meet those standards. When a coach references ICF-accredited training, it means their education met a recognized, external bar for coaching skill and ethics — not just a program's own claims about itself.
What is Nicole's certification (CPEC)?
Nicole holds the Certified Professional Empower Coach (CPEC) credential through Oregon State University's ICF-accredited coach training program. The program combines coaching technique, neuroscience-informed practice, and hands-on coaching experience, and it meets the training requirements toward ICF Level 1 certification. In plain terms: it means Nicole's training followed a recognized standard for how coaching should be done — not just a personal approach she came up with on her own.
How do sessions work?
Sessions happen online, so you can join from wherever you are. Each one runs up to 60 minutes, usually closer to 45–50. You bring what's on your mind — a decision, a goal, something you're working through — and the conversation goes from there.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on before booking?
No. It helps to have something in mind, even if it's not fully formed, but you don't need a polished agenda. Part of the first session is figuring out, together, what's actually going on and where to focus.
How many sessions do I need?
That depends on what you're working through. One Visit is a single session for something contained — one conversation, one topic. The Short Stay and The Long Stay are for things that benefit from continuity — coming back, building on earlier sessions, and tracking progress over time. If you're not sure which fits, start with One Visit and go from there.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential, and Nicole follows ICF ethical guidelines around client privacy. The only exceptions are the standard legal ones — for example, situations involving risk of harm — which are outlined in the client agreement.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Rescheduling
Life happens. You can reschedule a session with at least 24 hours' notice, no charge, no questions asked. Just reach out and we'll find a new time.

Late cancellations
Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee. This isn't a penalty — it's because that time was held for you and couldn't be offered to anyone else.

No-shows
If you miss a session without any notice, it's treated the same as a late cancellation and charged in full.

Exceptions
Emergencies happen, and I'll always work with you in good faith if something genuinely urgent comes up. This policy exists for the ordinary stuff — forgetting, running late, life getting busy — not for the rare, real emergency.

Package sessions
If you're in The Short Stay or The Long Stay, a late cancellation or no-show uses one of your sessions, the same as if it had happened. Sessions don't carry over or extend past the package's timeframe.
