Rare Find Coaching for Chronic Pain Recovery

Retrain your brain. Rebuild your body. Reclaim your life.

About

Hi, I'm Angela — and I'm kind of obsessed with the idea that you can feel better than you do right now. Not in a toxic-positivity, "just think positive!" way. In a science-backed, nervous-system-deep, I've-lived-this-too kind of way.

I'm an LCSW with 20+ years in mental health, a certified Pilates instructor, a proud Pom-mom, and a rare disease survivor who stumbled into one of the most fascinating (and underrated) fields in health and wellness: chronic pain reprocessing. Spoiler... your brain is way more involved in your pain than anyone told you, and that's actually great news.

Here's what I know: pain is one of the most isolating experiences a woman can have. You've Googled everything. You've tried everything. And somehow you're still here, managing instead of living. I get it, not just professionally, but personally.

That's why I trained with the Pain Reprocessing Therapy Center to become certified in PRT, a cutting-edge approach that helps your brain unlearn the patterns keeping you stuck in chronic pain. Combined with my clinical background and evidence-based movement work, I offer something you won't find everywhere: a whole-person approach that actually makes sense of what's happening in your body.

My approach is simple: when your mind, body, and nervous system are working together, real healing becomes possible. Here's what that can look like:
  • 🧠 Pain reprocessing coaching that helps you trade fear for understanding, and understanding for real change - designed specifically for women whose pain hasn't responded to traditional treatment
  • 🤸 Virtual Pilates classes designed to build strength, ease, and confidence in your body (subscriptions available!)
  • 💬 Life guidance sessions for the moments when you just need a sharp, compassionate mind in your corner

I don't rush the process. I meet you exactly where you are. And I will absolutely celebrate every win with you, because this work is hard, and progress deserves to be noticed.

If something in you is ready to stop surviving your body and start trusting it again, you're in the right place.

This is the work. This is the shift. This is the Rare Find. 💚

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pain Recovery Coaching?
Pain Reprocessing Coaching is a neuroscience-informed approach grounded in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a research-backed method for chronic pain.

It is designed to help retrain how the brain and nervous system interpret signals of safety and threat in the body.

In many chronic pain conditions, the body has already healed, but the nervous system remains in a protective loop, continuing to generate pain.

This work helps interrupt that cycle by teaching the brain that the body is safe again, often resulting in meaningful and lasting changes in symptoms.

This is a coaching service (not medical or mental health treatment) and is designed to complement—not replace—medical care.
Does this mean my pain isn’t real or is “all in my head”?
No. Your pain is real!

Pain is always created by the brain, but that doesn’t mean it’s imagined or made up. It means your system is doing its job of trying to protect you, even when there is no ongoing physical threat.

This approach does not minimize your experience. It offers a different lens for understanding why your system may be producing pain—and how that pattern can change.
Why am I still in pain if my injury has healed?
Pain is a protective response created by the brain; not only a reflection of structural damage.

After an injury, the body often heals, but the nervous system can remain in a heightened state of alert. The brain may continue interpreting normal sensations as threatening, and the pain response can persist.

This does not indicate damage. It reflects a learned protective pattern that can be gently retrained over time.
How do I know if my pain is neuroplastic?
Many of the people I work with are surprised to learn their symptoms may be influenced by a sensitized nervous system. Neuroplastic pain refers to pain that is amplified or maintained by the brain and nervous system rather than structural injury alone.

Common patterns include:
  • Symptoms that persist beyond expected healing time
  • Pain that shifts, moves, or varies in intensity
  • Fluctuations related to stress, pressure, or emotional load
  • Imaging that does not fully account for symptoms
  • Limited or temporary response to prior treatments
  • Symptoms that flare without a clear physical trigger

You don’t need certainty to begin exploring this work. If this feels familiar, it may be worth looking at your pain through this lens.
What kinds of pain and symptoms can this approach help with?
This work is most effective for chronic symptoms influenced by a sensitized nervous system.

This can include:
  •  Back, neck, and joint pain (including disc bulges or degeneration)
  •  Pelvic pain and tension-related symptoms
  •  Headaches and migraines
  •  Fibromyalgia and widespread pain
  •  Pain that persists after injury or surgery
  •  Digestive symptoms such as IBS
  •  Bladder pain or urgency
  •  Fatigue, dizziness, and stress-related physical symptoms

It can be especially helpful when symptoms are ongoing, inconsistent, or not fully explained by structural findings.
I have a structural diagnosis or MRI findings—can this still work for me?
Often, yes.

Structural findings like disc bulges or degenerative changes are extremely common, even in people without pain. Imaging does not always correlate with symptom severity.

If your symptoms persist beyond expected healing, fluctuate, or do not fully match imaging findings, the nervous system may be playing a larger role.

This work focuses on that layer—supporting the system in moving out of protection mode.
How do I know if I’m a good fit for this work?
This work is best suited for individuals who are ready for a deeper, more integrated approach to chronic symptoms.

You are likely a strong fit if:

  • Symptoms have persisted beyond expected healing time
  •  You have appropriately ruled out or are managing medical causes
  •  Prior treatments have not led to lasting resolution
  •  Symptoms fluctuate or do not follow a clear structural pattern
  •  Stress or emotional load impacts your physical experience
  •  You are open to a mind-body approach
  •  You are ready to actively participate in your healing process

Many clients come to this work after trying multiple approaches without lasting relief and are looking for a different way forward.
Who is this NOT for?
This work is not a replacement for medical care.

It may not be appropriate if:

  •  You have new or unexplained symptoms that have not been medically evaluated
  •  You are experiencing an acute or rapidly worsening condition
  •  You are looking for a purely passive, quick-fix or informational approach

If you are navigating a complex diagnosis, this coaching may still be supportive alongside medical care, not in place of it.
What can I expect from working together?
This is a highly personalized coaching experience—not a standardized program.

We focus on:
  •  Understanding the patterns driving your pain experience
  •  Supporting nervous system regulation and safety
  •  Reducing fear, attention loops, and reactivity around symptoms
  •  Rebuilding trust in your body over time

As the system learns safety, many people notice changes not just in symptoms, but in how they relate to their body altogether.
How long will it take to feel better?
There is no fixed timeline.

Some people notice shifts relatively quickly as fear and attention patterns change. For others, it is a gradual process of nervous system re-calibration and pattern change.

The focus is not just quick symptom reduction, but long-term sustainable change in how the system responds.
What makes your approach different?
This work integrates pain reprocessing principles, nervous system regulation, and body-based awareness within a highly personalized coaching container.

It is designed for individuals who are ready to move beyond symptom management and into a more refined understanding of how their system is operating.

My approach is informed by both professional expertise and lived experience, allowing for a grounded, attuned, and highly individualized process.
What happens after the program ends?
You leave with practical tools, a clearer understanding of your system, and a framework for continuing your progress independently.

If additional support is desired, follow-up sessions and ongoing coaching options are available.
Do you accept insurance?
No. This is a private-pay coaching practice. This allows for a more personalized, flexible, and in-depth experience.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
In some cases, yes.

Certain plans may allow reimbursement for coaching related to chronic pain or wellness. It is recommended that you confirm directly with your provider. Supporting documentation can be provided if needed.
Still unsure if this is right for you?
