Andrea Edmondson
Creator of The Biology of Leadership & NeuroSmart Coaches
About
You already know that mindset work alone isn't enough.
The missing layer is biology.
Andrea Edmondson is the creator of the NeuroSmart™ Approach — a framework that helps coaches, people leaders, educators, and the humans they work with understand their nervous system, work with it deliberately, and lead with greater clarity, calm, and connection as a result.
The NeuroSmart™ Approach: Body, Brain, and Biology
Andrea's work is built around three interconnected layers of human performance — with relationships running through every one.
Body is the nervous system and interoception — your capacity to sense, regulate, and respond to what's happening inside you. It is the foundation for focus, resilience, and vitality. Without it, no strategy, mindset shift, or leadership model lands the way it should.
Brain is the story layer — the neural networks, thoughts, mindsets, and meaning-making patterns that shape what we perceive, feel, and do. This is where coaching often starts. Andrea goes deeper.
Biology is the wider system — the interconnected physiological processes that underpin energy creation, recovery, and sustained performance. Gut health, sleep, movement, neurochemistry, hormonal balance — the conditions that either support the body and brain, or quietly undermine them.
When these three align, people move from reactive to responsive. Strategy starts to stick. Relationships strengthen. Performance becomes sustainable rather than costly.
For coaches Andrea trains and mentors coaches who want to work at a deeper level — integrating nervous system regulation, IFS principles, and applied neuroscience into their practice. You'll leave with practical frameworks you can use immediately, and a clearer understanding of what's actually happening in the room.
For people leaders If you're responsible for the performance, wellbeing, or culture of a team, Andrea's work gives you the biological understanding to lead more effectively — and to create conditions where your people can genuinely thrive, not just cope.
Andrea holds master's degrees from the Universities of London and Glasgow and the Institute of Organisational Neuroscience. She is a certified facilitator of Dr. Stuart Shanker's Self-Reg® Method, a Positive Intelligence coach, and a mindfulness educator. She has trained globally and worked with leaders across industries.
Her book, The Biology of Leadership, publishes in 2026.

Forward thinking coaches, leaders and educators are beginning to recognise that lasting change doesn’t come from surface-level strategies. It begins in the body, with the nervous system.
The capacity for focus, emotional regulation, trust-building, and clear decision-making all depend on how well the nervous system is functioning.
By learning how to recognise, work with, and regulate nervous system states, both your own and your clients’ you can support deeper transformation, sustainable performance, and greater resilience in leadership.

Coach Training Level 3 - Starting Soon
This Level 3 course of Coaching with the Nervous System in Mind: Biology Meets Behaviour starts on Monday 4th May at 3pm (UK time)
This is an 8-week immersive programme for NeuroSmart coaches who want to understand the biological foundations of energy, mood, safety, and behaviour and integrate this wisdom into coaching ethically, compassionately, and effectively.
Level 3: Biology Meets Behaviour
A Biology-Aware Approach for Advanced Coaches
A Biology-Aware Approach for Advanced Coaches
As a NeuroSmart-informed coach, you already understand the power of working with the nervous system and the stories that shape our behaviour.
But sometimes, insight isn’t enough.
Awareness isn’t enough.
Strategy isn’t enough.
Awareness isn’t enough.
Strategy isn’t enough.
Because when the body isn’t safe, it can’t change.
And when biology is overwhelmed, behaviour follows.
And when biology is overwhelmed, behaviour follows.
Level 3, Biology Meets Behaviour, expands your coaching practice into the deeper, biological roots of energy, reactivity, and change capacity, without stepping into medical territory.
This level isn’t about prescribing or diagnosing.
It’s about biological literacy, the ability to understand how energy, hormones, metabolism, neurochemistry, and the Cell Danger Response shape what your clients can do, not just what they want to do.

Why Biology-Aware Coaching Matters
Even the most insightful, motivated clients hit biological limits:
- low cellular energy and mitochondrial fatigue
- metabolic friction and glucose spikes
- hormonal changes affecting mood and focus
- neuroinflammation and chronic sympathetic load
- gut-brain dysregulation amplifying overwhelm
- a body stuck in protection mode, not performance mode
These forces shape how people feel, think, relate, and behave.
When you understand the biological context beneath behaviour, you can:
• Help clients interpret their biology rather than judge themselves
• Pace change in alignment with the nervous system
• Recognise when the body is the barrier, not the mindset
• Support deeper, sustainable transformation
• Protect your own energy and biological resilience as a coach
